It is one of Bihar’s 243 legislative constituencies, numbered 24, and is part of the Sitamarhi Lok Sabha constituency. Formed in 1967, it has seen 14 elections by 2025. The constituency covers Bathnaha and Majorganj Community Development Blocks, plus ten Gram Panchayats in the Sonbarsha Block: Bagha, Khap Khopraha, Marpa, Kanhauli, Kachor, Bhutahi, Madhesra, Ghurghura, Hanuman Nagar, and Bishanpur Gonahi.
